at The Texas Amphitheatre

Ray Price
"His timeless music, incredible voice, and innovative genius have yet to be equalled by any other singer in today's country-music world."
Ray Price is one of American music's truly great stars. He was inducted into Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996, but has long shown his genius in other genres as well. After more than a half-century in the business, Ray can still belt out a song with the best of them, whether it's honky-tonk, country, pop, blues, jazz, or anything in between. With his May 2000 Buddha Records release--"Prisoner of Love"--Ray has delightfully proven this once again with a big-band-backed medley in many moods and styles.
Jake Hooker (opening act)
Jake Hooker was born listening to the sounds of traditional country music through his father's west Texas country band. Jake began playing the bass at the age of seven and practiced diligently until he mastered the honky tonk sound. Jake formed his own band at the age of 14 and began performing. By the age of 18, Jake was playing bass and singing full time. He spent some time at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, studying music and theory. Jake moved to the Fort Worth area in 1998 where he quickly became the local favorite. Jake signed with Southland Records that same year and began recording. Jake's popularity continues to grow. His love and passion for traditional country music never ceases. He feels it is necessary to relay that love to the fans who are so dedicated to it as well. There is no doubt that Jake is strongly influenced by the sounds of Ray Price, Johnny Bush, Farron Young, Curtis Potter, Leon Rausch and Darrell McCall. He spends much of his spare time studying these artists' music in depth. Jake is consumed by his dedication to the music and his hobbies include playing the drums and learning the steel guitar. Jake's graceful and professional image on the bandstand, along with his voice and talented band, make his show unbeatable.

Brother-n-Laws
Team Roping

The vision started about two and a half years ago in a small central Texas back yard. Jason bottoms and Kirby hill ordered an arena and decided to have a few monthly jackpots. In order to keep up with the expenses of the arena, cattle and electricity, and any other expenses they occurred. Jason is a PRCA pick-up man who has been voted twice to the Texas circuit finals and a cowboy in his spare time and Kirby is a police officer and landscaper so the team roping kinda had to fall into what ever time they had left over. They will be the first to tell you they could not have done it with out the help of there families from wife and kids to there cousin Shane. After getting the arena up and planning their first event one problem arose “we had no lights and were expecting a large turn out!” Well no fear Kirby had a friend who had access to some large portable construction lights and they were in business!! After that roping Kirby made a deal with a local electrician and made a swap for lights in exchange for Kirby landscaping his yard and mowing his yard for the next year and a half, Kirby also owns a lawn maintenance company, which came in handy for this situation. In the beginning Jason was the veteran team roper who had all the contacts and new the ins and outs of the team roping industry, Kirby served mostly as a visionary or what you might call a dreamer. Kirby would be the first to admit that he came up with some wild and outrageous team ropings that would never draw a single team but Jason would always say yeah that's fine what ever you think. Luckily they never went forward on any of the harebrain schemes! It wasn't until after having back yard jackpots drawing as many as 500 teams in a day that Kirby began to make his rounds throughout Texas hitting every team roping known to man. He then made hundreds of contacts and friends and began to imagine a roping that would appeal to him as a team roper. In the early fall of 2003 brother-n-laws went out on a limb and planned a roping in Athens, TX to give away 10 saddles and 10 gist buckles. To Kirby who was a low numbered team roper he remembered that all he wanted to win was a buckle and after he won one all he wanted was to win a saddle!!! So how about having a roping where you had a chance to win both and they did and the team ropers came!!! Their first roping they had a little over 600 teams, which tickled them to death and poured gas on the fire to continue to rise towards the top of the team roping business!! You can ask either brother-n-law why they continue to put the ropings on and they'll tell you how much fun it is to see hundreds of team ropers come together and compete at a function you've worked so hard at putting together! “Come rope with brother-n-laws” and you'll see we're the laid-back prize packed family team roping!

The Promise

Texas Amphitheatre
The Promise Celebrates 20 Years
Performing at the Texas Amphitheatre in Glen Rose!
Come See The Promise under the beautiful autumn evening stars
at The Texas Amphitheatre in Glen Rose, Texas.
The Promise begins on the banks of the Paluxy River in historic Glen Rose, Texas. A grandfather and his grandchildren, Billy and Lisa, explore the dry riverbed in search of the dinosaur tracks that have made Somervell County a popular destination for visitors. As they settle by a campfire, Grandfather is reminded of a story that his own grandfather used to tell him -- a story about the Promise -- a story about the One sent by God so many years ago.
As Grandfather begins to sing about this Promised One, they find themselves among the prophets of The Old Testament foretelling the Life of Christ. As grandpa continues, they are later present at the birthplace of Jesus, in the midst of shepherds and kings.
Straight out of the pages of scripture, the narrators and audience witness the birth, life, death, resurrection and triumphant ascension of Jesus Christ. Utilizing an award-winning musical score, live animals, and a cast and crew of over 100 dedicated Christians, The Promise is sure to be one of the most memorable experiences of a lifetime.
The Promise is performed in the largest permanent outdoor stage in the state. The Texas Amphitheatre is an impressive 3,252 seat venue designed for The Promise to create a perfect atmosphere for this remarkable production. In addition, it is a host to many features exclusive to outdoor theaters throughout the nation. When implemented, it gives you an experience unlike any other.
The story of the Life of Christ is timeless. The performance season, however, is not. This season, The Promise will be celebrating 20 years at The Texas Amphitheatre in Glen Rose, TX with Friday and Saturday evening performances from September 5th through November 1st.

Texas Angus Fall Female Sale

History of the Angus Breed
The First Angus in America
When George Grant transported four Angus bulls from Scotland to the middle of the Kansas Prairie in 1873, they were part of the Scotsman's dream to found a colony of wealthy, stock-raising Britishers. Grant died five years later, and many of the settlers at his Victoria, Kansas, colony later returned to their homeland. However, these four Angus bulls, probably from the herd of George Brown of Westertown, Fochabers, Scotland, made a lasting impression on the U.S. cattle industry.
When two of the George Grant bulls were exhibited in the fall of 1873 at the Kansas City (Missouri) Livestock Exposition, some considered them "freaks" because of their polled (naturally hornless) heads and solid black color (Shorthorns were then the dominant breed.) Grant, a forward thinker, crossed the bulls with native Texas longhorn cows, producing a large number of hornless black calves that survived well on the winter range. The Angus crosses wintered better and weighed more the next spring, the first demonstration of the breed's value in their new homeland.
Early Importers and Breeders
The first great herds of Angus beef cattle in America were built up by purchasing stock directly from Scotland. Twelve hundred cattle alone were imported, mostly to the Midwest, in a period of explosive growth between 1878 and 1883. Over the next quarter of a century these early owners, in turn, helped start other herds by breeding, showing, and selling their registered stock.
The American Angus Association
The American Aberdeen-Angus Breeders' Association (name shortened in 1950s to American Angus Association) was founded in Chicago, Illinois, on November 21, 1883, with 60 members. The growth of the Association has paralleled the success of the Angus breed in America.
In the first century of operation, more than 10 million head were recorded. The Association records more cattle each year then any other beef breed association, making it the largest beef breed registry association in the world.
