  The Somervell County Expo and Texas Amphitheatre are located just 45 minutes southwest of Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex off Highway 67 in Glen Rose, Texas. They are owned by Somervell County and managed by Dooley Management. The Texas Amphitheatre opened in 1989 and the Expo Center opened in 1993. Last year visitors totaled over 60,000 for the Texas Amphitheatre and over 90,000 for the Expo Center.Expo Center has facilities large enough to be impressive or small enough to feel exclusive. Located within 20 minutes of more than 1,000 rooms, there are plenty of choices in hotels and motels.The Expo Center is a multi-purpose event center capable of handling most any size event from ropings, cuttings and horse shows, to concerts, dances and stage shows. It has three indoor arenas, the Main Arena, Showbarn, and Pavilion(multi-purpose area in which portable stalls, cattle pens or an arena can be constructed) and two outdoor arenas. It has the capability to go to 550 stalls for maximum equestrian activities. It has an exposition hall that is ideal for banquets, wedding receptions and meetings. The Expo Center also has a concourse that allows access to the Main Arena, the Showbarn and the Exposition Hall. The Main Arena, Concourse and Exposition Hall are heated and air conditioned. The Showbarn Arena is insulated and is heated and cooled by portable area coolers. We can also provide portable panels, additional tables & chairs, modular staging, in-house catering and concessions, security and more. All activities at the Expo Center are covered under one roof and surrounded by 1200 paved parking spaces.

Glen Rose has plenty of attractions to choose from; Dinosaur Valley State Park, Golf, Art, Shopping or Wildlife.Humans are the latecomers to this part of Texas. Tracks pressed into the area's limestone riverbeds reveal that dinosaurs roamed here more than 100 million years ago.The surrounding river highlands make for plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities.Established as a trading post in 1849, Glen Rose is located on the Paluxy River, where it merges with the mighty Brazos River.

MAIN ARENA  


The Main Arena is 33,280 square feet, measuring 130' x 256'. It features a seating capacity of up to 2100. The arena is lighted, heated and air conditioned and has a public address system. A perfect mix of sand and clay makes up the floor, allowing the facility to accommodate a diverse array of equestrian and non-equestrian events.

SHOW BARN ARENA

For a more intimate show, book our smaller arena. With 100' x 200' show arena, 640 bleacher seating, show office, announcer stand, sound system, and restrooms, you'll find everything you need for a rompin', stompin' good time.

BANQUET HALL Banquet Hall Layout 
Ideal for Banquets, Weddings, Receptions, and Meetings. Can be subdivided into three rooms, catering kitchen available. Over 7,000 square feet of climate controlled exhibit space can be specifically tailored to your needs (plus an additional 11,350 square feet of climate controlled concourse area!) Our Exhibit Hall can be subdivided into three acoustically separated rooms with portable electric, banquet seating and catering kitchen available. You'll delight in our fully equipped demonstration kitchen and work with highly-trained professional staff. We can also provide additional tables & chairs, modular staging, in house catering & concessions, security and more. Exhibit your best when you book your event with us.

*Exhibit hall can accommodate groups as large as 600 and the Main Arena can hold up to 5,000.

*Our Exhibit Hall can be subdivided into three acoustically separated rooms with portable electric, banquet seating and catering kitchen available.

RV HOOK-UPS
The Expo Center has 24 electric, water and sewer RV hook-ups, each space is capable of 220/50, 110/30 or 110/20 power supply. They rent for $20 per night. Each space is 22' x 50' and they are located on the north side of the facility, directly across Texas Drive. To reserve in advance please call 254-897-4509, we take Mastercard or Visa for reservations. If for any reason you need to cancel your reservation we require 24 hours notice for a refund.

Plenty of parking is available for any event. Our parking lots can hold a total of approximately 1200 vehicles.

For entertainment under the stars you can visit or book the Texas Amphitheatre, known as the home of "The Promise". This open-air facility offers a magnificent new showplace for high-quality entertainment. The Greco Roman design is by Peter Wolf of Dallas. Forty foot walls and arches tower above a 4,000 square foot tri-level stage. A waterway, which runs the length of the structure, separates the stage from the seating area. It has state of the art equipment, the sound system consists of a 40 channel Soundcraft mixing console and 15,000 watts of power. The lighting system consists of over 850 individual instruments and more than two dozen special effect lights, fog machines, follow spots, winches etc. With 3,250 fixed seats and availability for up to 5000 with bleachers and lawn, the Amphitheatre really draws a crowd.
